Here are the questions we are asked most often.

How does the eEAT solution work?

The eEAT solution fully automates your cold chain. Our connected sensors, installed in your enclosures, record the temperature at regular intervals (by default every 20 minutes).
This data is transmitted wirelessly via LoRaWAN technology to an eEATBOX (gateway) installed nearby. The box secures the data and transfers it to our servers hosted in Switzerland.
Finally, our central application processes this information to offer you real-time monitoring: histories, graphs, compliance reports and immediate alerts in case of anomaly.

Does installation require work or cabling?

Absolutely not. This is one of the main advantages of eEAT. Our sensors are 100% autonomous and battery-powered (lifespan of 3 to 5 years).
Communication is wireless over long distances (up to 100 meters indoors). You can install the sensors yourself in less than a minute, without drilling walls or pulling cables, which preserves the insulation of your cold rooms.

What are the technical specifications of eEAT sensors?

Our sensors are designed for demanding environments:

  • Measurements: Temperature (and optionally humidity).
  • Precision: ± 0.3°C for temperature / ± 2% for humidity.
  • Operating range: -30°C to +60°C (expandable with remote probe -200°C to +125°C).
  • Connectivity: LoRaWAN (frequency 868 MHz), range up to 100m indoors.
  • Autonomy: 3 to 5 years depending on ambient temperature.
  • Robustness: IP67 protection rating (resistant to water, humidity and dust).
  • Dimensions: 85 x 58 x 18 mm (size of a deck of cards).
  • Warranty: 8 years.

Why automate temperature records rather than doing them manually?

Manual recording presents three major risks that eEAT eliminates:
1. Legal reliability: The temperature displayed on your cold room screen has no legal value during a health inspection, as it does not reflect the real temperature of the products. A compliant manual record requires a calibrated thermometer and a long procedure (immersion in water).
2. Continuity: A manual record is only a snapshot (once a day). A breakdown occurring at night or on the weekend will be detected too late, leading to loss of goods and a risk to the consumer. eEAT monitors 24/7.
3. Time saving: Automation frees your teams from time-consuming and repetitive tasks to focus on their core business.

Is the eEAT solution compliant with the HACCP method and the European hygiene package regulations?

Yes, totally. The HACCP method and current regulations (Switzerland and EU) require temperature control based on reliable and traceable evidence.
eEAT meets these requirements by providing:

  • Objective and unalterable records.
  • A data history kept for minimum 2 years (legal traceability duration).
  • Reports ready to be presented during inspections by cantonal or veterinary authorities.
  • Complete traceability proving that the cold chain has not been broken.

How am I alerted in case of a problem (breakdown, open door)?

Reactivity is at the heart of our service. As soon as a sensor detects a temperature outside the thresholds you have defined, the system triggers an immediate alert.
You receive a notification by email and/or SMS (according to your configuration), allowing you to intervene before the goods are lost. This covers compressor failures, power outages, poorly closed doors or defective defrost cycles.

Where are my data hosted and are they secure?

The security and sovereignty of your data are priorities. Unlike many international cloud solutions, all eEAT data are hosted exclusively in Switzerland, in secure datacenters.
They are encrypted during transfer, guaranteeing total confidentiality and strict compliance with the DPA (Data Protection Act) and GDPR.

What types of equipment can be monitored?

Our sensors are universal and adapt to all your refrigeration equipment:

  • Positive and negative cold rooms.
  • Freezers and refrigerated cabinets.
  • Sales furniture and refrigerated counters.
  • Refrigerated vehicles (with adapted configuration).
  • Specific temperatures of production laboratories.
  • Ambient temperature.

They support extreme temperatures from -30°C to +60°C (-200°C to +500°C with remote probe).

What is the battery life and how are they replaced?

The sensors use high-performance lithium batteries designed to last between 3 and 5 years, depending on the usage temperature (intense cold can slightly reduce autonomy).
The eEAT platform continuously monitors the battery level of each sensor and alerts you well before a replacement is necessary, ensuring service continuity without interruption.
To replace them, simply remove the screws to open the protection and change the batteries. This operation takes only a few seconds.

Do you offer other types of sensors than temperature?

Yes, our ecosystem extends beyond the cold chain to cover all your self-control needs:

  • Humidity: For aging cellars or storage of sensitive products.
  • Polar compounds: To control frying oil quality.
  • Low temperature cooking: To monitor cooking cycles.
  • Pasteurization: To ensure holding of pasteurization temperatures.
  • Transport vehicles: To monitor temperatures of refrigerated trucks.
  • Rapid cooling: To validate rapid cooling processes.

Contact us to study your specific case.

What is the LoRaWAN technology used by eEAT?

LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network) is a low-power wireless communication protocol.
Unlike Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, it allows sensors to communicate over long distances (several hundred meters) with very low energy consumption, which guarantees the multi-year autonomy of our batteries. Moreover, it penetrates thick walls and cold room insulation better, even across several floors.

What is the Return on Investment (ROI) of the eEAT solution?

The ROI is generally achieved very quickly thanks to two factors:
1. Loss avoidance: A single early alert on a freezer breakdown can save thousands of francs/euros of goods, reimbursing the investment instantly.
2. Productivity gain: Automation eliminates hours of weekly manual records for your teams, allowing them to focus on higher value-added tasks.
